x_southernbelle asked: Years ago (late 70s) the mother of a friend of mine made this REALLY GOOD sour dough Beer Bread that had to have a ‘Culture’ of some kind fermented for several days before becoming one of the ingredients for the bread…NO it didn’t have to do with the one can of beer called for in the recipe.

Once all the ingredients were together I THINK the bread had to sit and ferment an addition three or so days before baking in a “tube” bread “baker” in the oven.
Sadly, my friend and I lost touch before I could the that recipe for that particular Beer Bread.
10 points to the one who comes up with that particular recipe.

irishjenn79 asked: I love the ever so simple recipe; 3 cups self rising flour, 3 tbls sugar and a can of room temp. beer. BUT, regardless of the small content of one beer being dispersed throughout the bread, DOES the alcohol bake out? I ask because I want to take it to work, but I work in an elementary school!

HP asked: If I want to make beer bread, do I have to open a new bottle, or can I use leftover (probably rather flat beer) from last night?

PennyLane asked: I’m making Beer Bread for a party this weekend and the recipe calls for 12 oz of beer, but doesn’t specify a specific brand. Which ones are good for cooking with? Should I use a lite or regular?

Tinkerbell77 asked: I love beer bread, but have only made it from Tastefully Simple. I really don’t like the price tag that goes along with it so I got to thinking. Since most beer bread recipes contain the same ingredients as boxed bread mixes, I wondered if I just omitted the water and replaced it with beer, if it would be the same.

Sarah P asked: How do you think beer bread would taste if it was made with Guiness? I’m planning on making some bread, but I’ve never made beer bread before, and I only have Guiness around… Will that do?
Thank you in advance.
Cheers
Sarah

lsiville asked: My ingredient list is 3 cups AP flour, 3/4c sugar, 1/2 t salt, 1 tbls baking powder, butter and of course, one 12oz beer. I usually bake it at 375 for 55 minutes. Its delicious, but tends to be very very dense and sometimes gummy. Can anyone suggest some changes?
